Allegations of Blockade and Basic Goods Restriction
In a formal statement released on July 25, 2026, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) accused law enforcement of laying siege to the nation's primary protest venue. The political group asserts that the Delhi Police have moved beyond standard crowd control by intentionally blocking water, food, and essential supplies from reaching the Jantar Mantar site. Party leadership characterized these actions as an attempt to turn a designated democratic space into a restricted military zone or prison environment.
Surveillance and Interception Tactics
CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka highlighted specific tactics reportedly used by officers to discourage demonstrators. According to evidence shared by Ranka, including WhatsApp communications, police allegedly visited local restaurants to threaten businesses against fulfilling food orders intended for the protestors. Additional claims suggest a tightening of the security perimeter, involving the following:
- Establishing security checkpoints approximately 5 kilometers away from the protest grounds to intercept incoming participants.
- Recording the Aadhaar identification numbers of students attempting to join the demonstration.
- Unlawful detention of citizens before they can arrive at the designated site.
Demands for Accountability and Minister Resignation
The escalation of police activity coincides with CJP's continued demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protests stem from reported examination irregularities and the NEET paper leak. While the party prepares for a third round of negotiations with Union Ministers, Ranka maintained that the resignation of Pradhan is a non-negotiable requirement for ending the impasse.
Addressing the Delhi Police Commissioner directly, the CJP demanded an immediate halt to what they describe as a manufactured atmosphere of fear. The party insists that officers must stop obstructing the movement of citizens and restore the supply of survival necessities to the historic site. "Jantar Mantar is not a prison. it is India's designated place for democratic dissent," the party's statement declared.
