Ranaut Condemns Youth Protests as 'Crass and Jarring'
In a series of social media posts following the conclusion of the 36-day Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demonstrations, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut launched a scathing critique of the participating students and civil society members. Writing on Instagram on July 27, 2026, the Himachal Pradesh representative described footage from the Jantar Mantar agitation as "puke inducing" and categorized the activists as "generation gutter." Despite the protests successfully securing the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 25, Ranaut focused her ire on the aesthetic and linguistic choices of the youth in the videos.
The Mandi MP asserted that India is defined by cultural sophistication and elegance, arguing that the protesters' self-identification with the term 'cockroach' was an accurate reflection of their behavior. Claiming she was "scarred" by the digital content, Ranaut announced a need for a "digital detox" to heal from what she termed the "filth, garbage and ugliness" displayed by the Gen Z activists.

Ranaut specifically targeted young women involved in the movement, questioning their claim to independence. She argued that true independence requires personal accountability rather than living off parental support. The MP alleged that these women "proudly flaunt their freedom to have drugs, drinks or endless body counts" while remaining unable to manage domestic responsibilities. According to Ranaut, those who damage public property or utilize abusive language must be prepared for the public to respond in kind.
