BJP Blames Rahul Gandhi for Disrupting Parliament's Monsoon Session

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stated that the recent Monsoon Session of Parliament was undermined by the alleged arrogance and indiscipline of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Senior BJP Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad asserted that Gandhi, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, repeatedly disrupted parliamentary proceedings.

Prasad specifically criticized Gandhi for a protest held outside the Prime Minister’s residence the previous month. He noted Gandhi’s family history as former Prime Ministers, suggesting Gandhi understood the significance and security protocols associated with the Prime Minister's residence. The protest, which included Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, occurred without prior permission, according to Prasad. This demonstration was related to the NEET exam paper leak and police actions against students protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

The BJP MP also accused Gandhi of changing his stance on demands for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation. Prasad stated that Gandhi demanded the resignation after the government had already offered a debate on the issues raised by the opposition. The BJP leader defended the police action against protesting students, asserting it followed established protocols and was conducted in consultation with magistrates and police officials. He also reiterated that there had been no police firing during these protests.

Prasad further alleged that the Congress party was responsible for disrupting the Lok Sabha. He also pointed to student protests in Jharkhand, a state governed by an ally of the Congress, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and claimed Gandhi remained silent regarding the police response to those demonstrations.
