Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao leveled sharp criticisms against the Congress party on Wednesday, asserting that their political maneuvers during the first and second phases of the Telangana movement resulted in significant loss of life. Rao claims the Congress owes the student community an apology for the deaths of over 1,400 youth who died during the struggle for statehood. He specifically pointed to the 2009 timeline, noting that then-Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram announced the state's formation only for the Centre to retreat shortly after. According to Rao, this reversal crushed the aspirations of supporters and triggered a tragic wave of student suicides.
Discourse on Policing and Policy Failures
The BJP leader challenged the Congress over its current rhetoric regarding police tactics. While Congress leaders have recently criticized the use of rubber pellets during protests in Delhi, Rao questioned their silence on the lethal force used against Telangana students during their own tenure. He asked rhetorically if the students killed in police fire under Congress rule were viewed as 'terrorists' by the administration of that time. Further, Rao dismissed Congress critiques of the RSS, countering that the party should reflect on its own leadership structure, which he described as being controlled from abroad.

Shifting focus to current governance, Rao accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s administration of abandoning the 'Youth Declaration' pledges made by Priyanka Gandhi during the election cycle. He also took aim at Rahul Gandhi’s recent contributions to the Lok Sabha debate on the Public Examinations Amendment Bill and NEET reforms, characterizing the Congress leader's remarks as an insult to the national student body.
