Jeska, a former mountain running champion who had won several English and British titles between 2010 and 2012, refused to provide blood samples for hormone monitoring due to privacy concerns regarding her transgender status. Fearing the revocation of her records and future eligibility, she attacked Ralph Knibbs, the federation's HR manager and a former rugby player, with a knife. Two other staff members, Tim Begley and Kevan Taylor, were also injured while attempting to intervene and subdue the attacker. Jeska subsequently pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2017. Following the legal proceedings, all of her competitive results were vacated.
