BBC Investigation Levels Severe Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Jared Leto

Broadcasting Giant Documents Decades of Alleged Abuse

A new investigative documentary from the BBC, titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, has brought forward ten women who allege the actor and musician engaged in criminal sexual misconduct. The broadcast details accounts spanning from 2012 to 2016, marking the first time nine of these individuals have shared their experiences publicly. The BBC reports that journalists corroborated these claims by interviewing family members and friends who were told of the encounters when they occurred. Producers also reviewed photographs and digital messages that support the women's narratives.

Specific Claims of Underage Misconduct

The documentary outlines a series of disturbing encounters involving minors and young adults:

  • One woman alleges Leto sexually assaulted her in a motel when she was 17 years old.
  • Another claimant describes a sexual assault threat made by the actor when she was 19.
  • A third individual recounted an encounter in California that occurred when she was 17 and Leto was 34, an act that constitutes statutory rape under state law.
  • A fourth woman provided details regarding sexually explicit phone calls Leto allegedly placed to her while she was 16.

These new testimonies follow earlier public accusations. In 2025, Los Angeles-based DJ Allie Teilz shared a 2012 Facebook status update alleging Leto attempted to force himself on her backstage at an M83 concert when she was 17. Following that disclosure, an Air Mail report last year featured nine women accusing the Dallas Buyers Club star of inappropriate behavior.

Leto Issues Defiant Rebuttal

Jared Leto, known both for his Academy Award-winning film career and as the frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars, has denied all accusations of wrongdoing. In a formal statement responding to the BBC investigation, Leto maintained his innocence. "I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false," the actor stated. His representatives had previously dismissed similar allegations surfaced by Air Mail as meritless.

Leto’s recent professional work includes roles in House of Gucci, Morbius, and Masters of the Universe. Despite his status as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, these coordinated testimonies present a significant challenge to his public standing.
