Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has officially authorized a relief fund totaling Rs 16 crore to assist citizens and local governments in repairing damages sustained during the recent monsoon surge. While meteorological reports indicate a significant drop in rainfall since July 21, the scale of destruction across the state continues to present a logistical hurdle for the administration.
Infrastructure and Rehabilitation Targets
The allocation aims to address the aftermath of severe flooding that hit several districts earlier this month. Although the immediate threat of rising rivers has diminished, Sarma highlighted that the damage to property and public utilities is extensive. The relief operations will focus on several key areas:
- Restoration of damaged rural and urban transport links.
- Financial assistance for families displaced by high water.
- Repair of community infrastructure damaged by silt and erosion.
