Andhra Pradesh Ruling Alliance Warns Against YSRCP Social Media Disinformation

The ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh, comprising the Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena Party, and Bharatiya Janata Party, has issued a joint appeal to their members. They are cautioning cadres against falling prey to alleged misinformation campaigns orchestrated by the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) through fake social media posts.

According to a statement from the NDA social media coordination committee, the YSRCP is reportedly operating fictitious social media accounts. These accounts are purported to impersonate supporters of one alliance party while launching personal attacks and making derogatory remarks against leaders of another coalition partner. The committee cited examples where fake accounts, posing as TDP supporters, praised the TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu while criticizing Jana Sena chief and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan. Conversely, other fake accounts have allegedly targeted Naidu with severe criticism.

The committee asserts that this strategy aims to provoke emotional responses and aggressive reactions among genuine alliance workers, leading to disputes within the coalition. The ultimate goal, according to the committee, is to benefit the YSRCP politically by weakening the alliance.

The NDA partners have committed to a joint strategy to counter this alleged YSRCP campaign and to publicize the development and welfare programs of the coalition government. The committee warned that social media activists from the TDP, Jana Sena, or BJP engaging in personal attacks or abusive campaigns against alliance partners would face stringent action. They urged party supporters to exercise restraint, verify suspicious social media content, and report it to their respective party leaderships rather than reacting impulsively.
