Adilabad Police Dismantle Major Vehicle Theft Ring; Ten Suspects Apprehended
Authorities in Neradigonda have arrested ten members of an organized theft syndicate responsible for a multi-district crime spree. The operation led to the recovery of eleven vehicles valued at approximately ₹17 lakh.
Operation Leads to Significant Recovery of Assets
Law enforcement officials in Adilabad have disrupted an inter-district organized crime group specialized in motor vehicle theft. The Neradigonda police successfully apprehended ten individuals and seized a fleet of stolen vehicles with an estimated market value of ₹17 lakh. Officers recovered seven motorcycles, three autorickshaws, and one car during the crackdown.
High-Stakes Arrests and Evasion Tactics
The investigation points to 25-year-olds Yasar Ahmed and Sohail, both residents of Nirmal, as the primary architects of the operation. The syndicate primarily targeted vehicles across Hyderabad, as well as the former districts of Warangal and Karimnagar. The confrontation began on Friday night during a routine inspection at the Kupti check post in Neradigonda mandal. In a violent turn of events, five suspects allegedly brandished a knife to threaten police officers before fleeing the scene.
Ongoing Manhunt for Remaining Syndicate Members
The escape was short-lived, as intensified police surveillance led to the capture of the first five suspects the following morning. Interrogations subsequently guided officers to five additional accomplices who were taken into custody on Saturday evening. Adilabad Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan confirmed on Sunday that while ten are in custody, the investigation continues. Authorities are currently pursuing six additional members of the gang who managed to evade initial capture and remain at large.
