The aim of the State government is the holistic development of students, alongside providing international-level quality education in government schools, said Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Dr. Ponguru Narayana while participating in the ‘Mega Parent-Teachers Meet 4.0’ at DSR Girls High School in Nellore on Friday (July 24, 2026).
The Minister interacted with the students and their parents, discussing the children’s education and future aspirations. Later, he had lunch with the students.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “During the 2024 elections, I promised to develop VR School, and I fulfilled that promise immediately after assuming office. When we decided to develop 15 government schools within the city limits with the help of donors, local industrialists and my friends stepped forward to assist.”
He urged teachers to take special responsibility for the students’ education and claimed that the State Education Minister Nara Lokesh is focusing on strengthening the education system. He explained that the objective of the parent-teacher meeting is to understand the students’ interests and capabilities through their parents and to provide encouragement accordingly.
Recollecting his childhood days at VR School, Mr. Narayana said, “I used to walk to school and endured great hardships due to poverty. With an aim of sparing today’s children from such struggles, we purchased 10,000 bicycles using ₹6 crore of my own funds and we will distribute the first batch of 7,000 bicycles to government school students on July 27.”
Meanwhile, the Minister also congratulated Devireddy Sudhakar Reddy, Head of DSR Constructions, for the reconstruction of the high school, and felicitated the company’s representative, Nagaraju.
