Night of Arson and Vandalism
Palestinian authorities reported a series of overnight attacks by Israeli settlers targeting religious sites and private property in the West Bank. In the village of Qusra, Mayor Abdul Azim Wadi confirmed that a mosque currently under construction was set on fire. Assailants also left behind spray-painted messages of "revenge" on the building's walls. A separate religious structure in the village of Kour was similarly targeted by arsonists and defaced with slogans.
The violence extended beyond sacred sites to include the destruction of agricultural land and the burning of civilian vehicles. Local reports indicate that multiple villages were harassed overnight, with residents reporting stolen property and widespread vandalism. The Israeli military stated that troops were dispatched to Qusra, and police have initiated an investigation into the incidents.
Fallout from the Tal Confrontation
This latest surge in hostilities follows a deadly clash near the village of Tal two days prior. That engagement resulted in the deaths of four Palestinians and two Israelis, with both communities trading blame for the initial provocation. In response to the Tal incident, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised "powerful action," which may include the demolition of homes belonging to two Palestinian suspects.
