Iranian state media reported explosions along the strait in Qeshm and Bandar Abbas, where two people were reportedly injured

The U.S. military said late on Thursday (July 23, 2026) that it completed its latest round of strikes on Iran that marked a 13th consecutive night of American attacks. “CENTCOM targeted Iranian military command centers, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites and maritime capabilities to further diminish the threat Iran poses to civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” it said in a statement.

Iranian state media reported explosions along the strait in Qeshm and Bandar Abbas, where two people were reportedly injured, as well as to the northwest near Andimeshk, Omidiyeh and Firuzabad.
The Houthis threatened to shut down another key trade route, with the world economy already reeling from Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran and the U.S. have stepped up attacks as they vie for control of the strait, through which a fifth of the world’s oil and gas transited in peacetime, setting off a scramble for alternative routes.

Hormuz tanker crossings slip to lowest in more than two months, data shows
The number of tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz fell to just one on Thursday (July 24, 2026), the lowest level since May 7, according to shiptracking data, amid ongoing shipping risks in the West Asia and as oil prices surged back to $100 a barrel.
Only one tanker crossed the Strait of Hormuz on July 23, compared with three the day earlier, data from analytics firm Kpler showed.
Very large crude carrier New Giant, loaded with 2 million barrels of Iraqi Basrah crude, exited the strait on Thursday and is due to arrive at China’s Rizhao port by mid-August.- Reuters
