Vizianagaram Schools Receive Steel Plate Donation to Phase Out Disposables

Eliminating Disposables for School Nutrition
In a move to improve student health and environmental standards, Vizianagaram District Educational Officer (DEO) U. Manikyam Naidu emphasized the necessity of hygiene during the distribution of midday meals on Monday. During an event at Kaspa Municipal High School, officials highlighted that many students previously relied on disposable plates because they could not afford permanent steel alternatives.
Recognition of Local Philanthropy
The DEO honored Karrotu Satyam, president of the Vizianagaram City Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi, for the donation of 400 steel plates to the student body. Satyam, who also serves as the district's Midday Meal Coordinator, was recognized for his organization's ongoing support of the local education system, which includes:
- Distribution of scholarships to academic high-achievers
- Provision of meal plates to multiple regional schools
- Support services for senior citizens and underprivileged youth
Headmistress V. Visalakshmi and the faculty of Kaspa High School joined the DEO in praising the initiative. The group noted that transition away from single-use items is a key step in professionalizing the nutrition program for students in the district.
