Vizag to Debut Multi-Sector SME Trade Fair During September Business Expo
District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore announced the city's inaugural AP Chambers Business Expo to boost regional industrial growth. The three-day event starting September 11 will highlight investment trends in the Visakhapatnam Economic Region.

Strategic Focus on MSME Growth
In a formal announcement on July 25, 2026, Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore highlighted the necessity of broad-based sectoral expansion to sustain the city's economic momentum. Speaking at an AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) gathering on Old Jail Road, Kishore emphasized that promoting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) serves as the primary engine for regional stability and wealth creation. The event marked the official brochure release for the upcoming AP Chambers Business Expo, scheduled to run from September 11 to 13.
Andhra Pradesh Secures Major Investment Share
The District Collector provided broader economic context by noting that Andhra Pradesh currently attracts 25% of all national investments. A substantial portion of these capital inflows is directed toward the former Visakhapatnam district. Kishore indicated that the state government is prioritizing the development of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region and the emerging Bay City concept to capitalize on this interest. Key objectives of the initiative include:
- Establishing Visakhapatnam as a central node for employment and professional opportunities.
- Strengthening the operational capacity of local small-scale industries.
- Synchronizing stakeholder efforts to build integrated urban and economic infrastructure.
Collaboration for Inaugural City Expo
This event signals the first time Visakhapatnam will host this specific business expo. P. Sobhan Prakash, Chairman of the AP Chambers Visakhapatnam Zone, and R. Subba Rao, State Secretary, joined the proceedings to detail the logistical framework of the September showcase. The organizers aim to bridge the gap between regional entrepreneurs and larger industrial players to ensure the long-term viability of the local economy.
