Udupi District Leads Karnataka in Digital Voter Roll Integration
Election officials confirmed that Udupi has surpassed all other Karnataka districts by digitizing over 940,000 voter enumeration forms. The district has reached an 88.39% completion rate during the Special Intensive Revision process.
Digitization Milestones in Electoral Management
Udupi district has secured the top position in Karnataka for the digital conversion of voter enumeration forms. V. Anbukumar, the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), announced during a progress review at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday that 9,40,340 forms have been successfully digitized in the district. This achievement represents an 88.39% completion rate as of the latest reporting date.
Procedural Updates for Voter Mapping
The Election Commission of India is currently conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to refine the voter database. To address gaps in previous documentation, Anbukumar noted that individuals missed during earlier house-to-house surveys may submit their details via the final column of the enumeration form. To streamline the process, the CEO clarified that any adult family member may sign and submit forms to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) if the primary voter is absent during field visits. Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa confirmed that the distribution phase of these forms reached 100% across the district.
Demographic Adjustments and Personnel Recognition
The review session also highlighted significant shifts in the local electorate data, identifying 14,835 deceased voters and 14,426 individuals who have permanently relocated from the area. In recognition of high performance, officials honored several BLOs who were the first to hit the 100% digitization mark in their respective constituencies:
- Pavithra Poojary: Polling Station No. 125, Byndoor
- Lakshmi Shedti: Polling Station No. 135, Kundapur
- Prasanni: Polling Station No. 33, Udupi
- Hema Poojarthi: Polling Station No. 190, Kapu
- Jyotirao Servegar: Polling Station No. 41, Karkala
Anbukumar emphasized that maintaining an error-free registry is a structural requirement for electoral integrity and urged staff to finalize the SIR without procedural confusion.
