Madhya Pradesh off-spinner Saransh Jain receives his first national call-up following an injury to Washington Sundar. The squad also marks the return of veteran Ravindra Jadeja and pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the two-match series.

Madhya Pradesh off-spinner Saransh Jain has secured his first selection for the Indian Test squad ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. The 33-year-old veteran of the domestic circuit, who boasts 188 wickets in 54 First Class matches, steps in to fill the vacancy left by Washington Sundar. Washington's exclusion follows a hamstring injury sustained during the recent ODI series in England, with BCCI officials confirming his unavailability for the series opener.
The spin department will be led by the returning Ravindra Jadeja. The 37-year-old all-rounder resumes his role after being rested for the June encounter against Afghanistan. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the turning tracks of Galle and Colombo will also feature wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Manav Suthar, the latter retaining his spot after a strong showing in New Chandigarh. Left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey has been omitted from the traveling party.
Pace and Batting Concerns: Fitness Clouds Over Key Names
While Jasprit Bumrah returns to lead the fast-bowling unit, his participation remains conditional. The 32-year-old is undergoing assessment for a left-knee injury that sidelined him during the final ODI of the England tour. Similarly, Sai Sudharsan—who recently hit two centuries for India A in Sri Lanka—faces a fitness test before his inclusion is finalized. The pace attack is rounded out by Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Gurnoor Brar.
Schedule and Final Roster
The 15-member squad will undergo a four-day warm-up fixture in Colombo starting August 7 before the official series begins. The first Test is scheduled for August 15-19 in Galle, followed by the second Test in Colombo from August 23-27.
