Sangh Disavows Former Intellectual Cell Head

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) issued a formal statement on July 28, 2026, distancing the organization from T.G. Mohandas following a series of highly inflammatory public comments. K. B. Sreekumar, the RSS Saha Prantha Karyavah for South Kerala, clarified that the views expressed by Mohandas do not represent the organization. Sreekumar noted that Mohandas holds no official position within the RSS at any level and stated that his recent commentary warrants condemnation in the strongest possible terms.

Details of the Violent Rhetoric

The controversy centers on a 30-minute video uploaded to YouTube on July 26, where Mohandas detailed a hypothetical and violent suppression of protesters at Jantar Mantar. The demonstrations followed irregularities in the NEET exam and resulted in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In his broadcast, Mohandas outlined a specific tactical plan:

• Impose a four-square-kilometer curfew around the protest site.
• Issue three warnings for the crowd to disperse.
• Order security forces to open fire on the assembly.
• Collect bodies and transport victims to hospitals after the area is cleared.

Beyond the threats of state-sanctioned violence, Mohandas targeted secular and leftist women involved in political activism. He claimed in the video that such individuals "enjoy being gangraped" and suggested that no complaints would follow such assaults. While he later attempted to frame these assertions as "satirical" and "hypothetical" experiments taken out of context, the remarks triggered immediate political backlash.

State Police Launch Investigation

The Kerala government has moved to take legal action against the former head of the BJP State intellectual cell. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala directed Inspector General of Police P. Prakash to lead a probe into the matter. This investigation follows formal complaints lodged by multiple political wings, including the All India Youth Federation (AIYF), Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Youth Congress, and the People’s Democratic Party.

Political leaders have categorized the rhetoric as an assault on democratic norms. Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan called for the immediate registration of a criminal case, arguing that the statements betray a desire to violently silence dissent.
