Nellore Leaders Liaise with Naidu to Expedite Dagadarthi Airport Project
Parliamentary representatives from Nellore are pushing for renewed infrastructure investment to support a massive industrial corridor. The leaders highlighted the stalled Dagadarthi airport and the modernization of Kavali railway station as essential drivers for the region.
Regional Infrastructure Priorities Reach Chief Minister
Public representatives from the SPSR Nellore district are intensifying efforts to synchronize infrastructure development with the region's looming industrial expansion. Rajya Sabha member Beedha Mastan Rao Yadav, alongside MPs Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, met with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in New Delhi to address the stalled Dagadarthi airport project. While land acquisition is finished, the project has slowed significantly at the tender stage.
Chief Minister Naidu reportedly indicated that the Dagadarthi project would receive executive attention following the formal launch of the Bhogapuram airport, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate on August 1. The delay has become a primary concern for local leaders who view the airport as a fundamental component of the northern Nellore development strategy.
Rail Modernization and Industrial Giants
Parallel to the airport discussions, Beedha Mastan Rao Yadav submitted a formal representation to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The appeal seeks to include Kavali railway station in the Amrit Bharat redevelopment program. As an NSG-4 category facility, the station currently serves 20 lakh annual passengers and reported earnings of ₹13.41 crore in the 2024-25 fiscal year from 10.83 lakh commuters.
The push for modernization is linked to a massive surge in local industrial activity, including:

- Development of the Ramayapatnam port.
- BPCL’s proposed integrated refinery, representing an investment exceeding ₹1 lakh crore.
Enhanced Transit for Economic Growth
To support the influx of workers and traders, Mr. Yadav is also lobbying for new train halts at Kavali. The request covers high-traffic lines including the Sabari Express, Howrah-SMVT Bengaluru Express, Howrah-Chennai Mail, and the Chennai-New Delhi Grand Trunk Express. These additional stops aim to facilitate easier movement for small-scale merchants, students, and employees participating in the regional economic boom.
