Two 17-year-old students lost their lives early Sunday morning when a heavy vehicle collided with their scooter. A third passenger survived the incident while authorities launched a manhunt for the driver.

A fatal road accident claimed the lives of two intermediate students early Sunday morning, July 26, 2026, in Hyderabad. The victims, identified as 17-year-olds B. Mahesh and Laxmi Teja, were traveling to a cricket match when their scooter was struck by a lorry. A third teenager, B. Kiran, who was also riding the vehicle, survived the crash with minor physical injuries.
Details of the Incident
The collision occurred around 5 a.m. as the group moved from Moosapet toward the KPHB area. The trio had intended to stop for tea before reaching the cricket ground. According to local police reports, the accident took place near a U-turn when a lorry traveling in the same direction hit the scooter from the side.
The mechanics of the crash proved catastrophic for two of the riders:
- B. Mahesh and Laxmi Teja: Thrown to the left side of the road upon impact, both victims were run over by the lorry's wheels.
- B. Kiran: Thrown to the right side of the road, avoiding the direct path of the heavy vehicle and escaping with non-life-threatening wounds.
Law Enforcement Response
Following the collision, the lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Responding officers transported the bodies of Mahesh and Teja for postmortem examinations. While the police have successfully detained the involved lorry and registered a formal case, the driver remains at large. Investigative teams are currently working to track the suspect's whereabouts.
