Strategic Expansion and Infrastructure Developments

During a weekend inspection of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy headquarters, Minister for Culture P.C. Vishnunadh detailed plans to increase the visibility of the institution’s cultural programs. A new exhibition space situated on the second floor of the academy building will honor the legacy of director and former chairman Shaji N. Karun. The Minister’s visit included a survey of the Sathyan memorial headquarters at Kazhakuttam's Kinfra Film and Video Park, alongside the Centre for International Film Research and Archives.

Festival Timelines and Award Schedules

The Minister highlighted the operational stability of the academy, noting that activities follow a strict, time-bound calendar. Preparation for major cinematic events is currently underway:

• The International Film Festival of Kerala is scheduled for December 11 to 18 in Thiruvananthapuram.
• Selection processes for the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala are already in progress.
• A jury for the 2025 Kerala State Film Awards will be assembled shortly to ensure screenings start immediately.
• The administration is considering a joint ceremony to present the Kerala State Television Awards for both 2024 and 2025.

Accelerating the J.C. Daniel Film City

Land acquisition for the J.C. Daniel Film City in Kochi is nearing its final stage. Minister Vishnunadh indicated that construction could commence within the current government's first 100 days, pending the completion of these land transfers. He praised the academy's internal team for maintaining consistent output, labeling it one of the most effective cultural institutions in the country.
