Kochi Hosts Southern Regional Summit to Engineer Financial Autonomy for SHG Federations

Strategic Roadmap for 2047

A multi-state collaborative effort to redefine the financial trajectory of self-help groups (SHGs) launched in Kochi on Wednesday. This southern-level workshop operates under the National Supportive Supervision Framework (NSSF), an initiative guided by the Ministry of Rural Development. The primary objective involves crafting comprehensive action plans designed to secure the long-term social and economic well-being of neighbourhood group members and their respective clusters.

Regional Customization and Resource Allignment

According to Jui Bhattacharya, National Mission Manager for the National Mission Management Unit, the overarching goal is to ensure every cluster-level federation achieves complete financial self-sufficiency by 2047. Rather than a uniform approach, the resulting blueprints will be tailored to the specific needs of individual states. These localized strategies will evaluate three primary pillars:

• Available human resources and administrative capacity
• Long-term financial sustainability models
• Direct socio-economic benefits for individual members

Collaborative Participation Across South India

The summit brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from across the southern peninsula and affiliated territories. Representatives from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh joined delegates from Puducherry and Lakshadweep to provide regional insights and data. These participants engaged in technical group discussions to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements for the NSSF roll-out. The final output of this session will serve as a foundational document for state-level welfare initiatives through the coming decades.
