Kerala High Court asks State government to give instructions on appointment of Sabarimala Tantri

The Kerala High Court has asked the State government to provide instructions regarding the appointment of Kandararu Brahmadathan, son of Kandararu Rajeevaru, as the Tantri (Chief Priest) of the Sabarimala temple.
A Division Bench of Justices V. Raja Vijayaraghavan and K.V. Jayakumar directed the State to inform the court regarding the Tantri position by July 27, while considering a report submitted by the Sabarimala Special Commissioner concerning the proposed appointment.
Mr. Rajeevaru had asked to be relieved of his position as the Tantri, citing ill health. He was arraigned as an accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case. In a letter to the Travancore Devaswom Board, Mr. Rajeevaru requested that his son succeed him to the position.
