Kakatiya University Expands Innovation Footprint with Second Incubation Centre
Vice-Chancellor K. Pratap Reddy announced a new CSR-funded incubation facility to bolster North Telangana's startup ecosystem. The university is also pursuing a strategic academic partnership with Germany's Reutlingen University for dual-degree programs.
Expanding the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in North Telangana
Kakatiya University is solidifying its position as a regional center for innovation. During an induction ceremony at K-Hub on Monday, Vice-Chancellor K. Pratap Reddy confirmed that the institution will establish a second incubation center on its campus. Funding for this expansion will come through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aiming to provide physical infrastructure for emerging enterprises.
Pratap Reddy challenged the student body to pivot from traditional employment paths toward job creation. By leveraging state-backed resources, he noted that determined innovators can build sustainable businesses. Through a partnership with Telangana’s T-Hub, the university expects to offer specialized mentoring and support services to approximately 3,000 students. Reddy predicts this specific intake will yield at least 10 viable startups.
Strategic Alliances and Training Metrics
The university's growth strategy extends beyond local infrastructure to international academic cooperation. Negotiations are currently active for a collaboration with Reutlingen University in Germany. This proposed agreement includes:
- 4+1 and 3+2 dual-degree academic tracks.
- Short-term international exposure visits for students.
- Collaborative research opportunities.
T-Hub representative Sravan Erugula provided data on the competitive selection process for the current Entrepreneurship and Startup Induction Programme. Out of 1,700 applicants, only 400 students secured a spot. These participants will complete a curriculum of 12 to 15 intensive training sessions focused on startup mechanics, followed by a period of sustained professional mentoring. Registrar V. Ramachandram joined T-Hub representatives Ashish Sharma and Bharat, along with K-Hub Joint Directors Siddharth and Bollam Kiran, in emphasizing the necessity of utilizing these institutional resources to drive economic progress.
