Investigation Launched into Alleged Shared-Flat Misconduct

Law enforcement authorities in Gachibowli have initiated criminal proceedings against a 36-year-old software engineer following a formal complaint from a Dutch national. The complainant, a nurse from the Netherlands, alleges she was subjected to persistent stalking and sexual harassment during a visit to the city in March 2026. According to police reports released on July 27, the woman had been staying at an apartment shared by her boyfriend and the accused.

Legal Framework and Police Intervention

The victim detailed a series of incidents where the suspect reportedly touched her inappropriately and engaged in behavior intended to insult her modesty. Although the alleged actions took place in the spring, the nurse returned to the Netherlands before coming back to Hyderabad recently to seek legal recourse. She filed her official grievance at the Gachibowli Police Station on July 23.

Police officials confirmed that the case has been categorized under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:

  • Assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty
  • Sexual harassment
  • Stalking
  • Words, gestures, or acts intended to insult a woman's modesty

An official notice has been served to the accused software professional as the investigation continues. Authorities are currently examining the timeline of events between the March incidents and the formal filing of the complaint in July.
