Hyderabad Holiday Membership Scam: 15 Arrested After 19 Travelers Defrauded of ₹22 Lakh

Law enforcement authorities in Gachibowli disrupted an organized travel fraud network on Saturday, apprehending 15 organizers and consultants. Operating under the trade name The Pacific Holiday World, the firm was legally registered as 4R Seasons Holidays Private Limited with a corporate base in Kalkaji, New Delhi. The group targeted potential victims in Hyderabad by deploying marketing staff to high-traffic shopping malls and commercial hubs.

The scheme relied on a structured data collection process. Executives distributed complimentary gift coupons to gather mobile numbers from visitors. Selected participants received follow-up calls inviting them to high-pressure sales presentations hosted at upscale venues, such as the Radisson Hotel in Gachibowli. During these sessions, representatives coerced attendees into buying long-term memberships with the promise of luxury accommodations.

Contractual Misrepresentations and Financial Losses

The fraudulent packages were marketed with tiered pricing structures aimed at long-term commitment:

• Five-year memberships: Priced at ₹1.25 lakh, promising seven nights of domestic five-star stays annually.
• Ten-year memberships: Offering international and domestic five-star accommodations for seven nights every year.

Sales agents secured immediate transactions by offering time-sensitive discounts and artificial incentives. Investigation reveals that once payments were processed, the promised services vanished and communication ceased. The probe gained momentum after a formal complaint by Vutturi Swaraj on July 24. Swaraj reported paying ₹3.40 lakh via credit card on July 16, only to be ignored by the company after the transaction.

Police Action and Corporate Accountability

Following the complaint, Gachibowli police raided a promotional meeting at the Radisson Hotel. The current investigation has identified 19 victims who collectively lost approximately ₹22 lakh. Authorities have named Rajesh Kumar, Mohd. Reehan Akhtar, Abdul Rashid, and Ram Singh Dhami as the company directors.

The fifteen individuals currently in custody include Mohammed Aqif, Shivam Sharma, Shanu Kumar, Santosh Kumar, Piyush, Jay Singal, Aparna Chouhan, Shubham Shukla, Mohit Chauhan, Himanshi Nigam, Anak Agarwal, Ayush Bajpai, Amit, Pranav Pandey, and Prashant Kumar Karan. These suspects, originating from various Indian states, acted as holiday consultants or sales executives. Preliminary reports indicate the suspects admitted their roles in the operation during questioning. Police efforts to track additional victims continue as the financial scope of the fraud may expand beyond the initial ₹22 lakh figure.
