Military leadership gathered at the RK Beach Victory at Sea War Memorial on July 26, 2026, to observe the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) organized the event to recognize the victory of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1999 Kargil War. Vice Admiral Susheel Menon, serving as the Chief of Staff of the ENC, conducted the formal wreath-laying ceremony to honor the personnel who died during Operation Vijay.
Ceremonial Honors and Joint Tributes
The observance highlighted the collaboration between different military branches. Representative commanders joined Vice Admiral Menon to pay their respects, including:
- Colonel V. Samuel Prakash, representing the Indian Army.
- Group Captain P. Shyam Kumar, representing the Indian Air Force.
A ceremonial guard consisting of 50 members conducted a parade at the memorial site. Following the floral tributes, all participants observed a two-minute period of silence to reflect on the sacrifices made by the service members in the high-altitude conflict.
