Dravidian University Launches 10-Day Cricket League to Boost Student Athletics

The Indira Gandhi Open Air Stadium hosted the commencement of the Dravidian Cricket League-2026 on Monday. Dravidian University Vice-Chancellor L.C. Mallaiah formally opened the ten-day event, participating in an introductory friendly match alongside students. According to University Registrar V. Kiran Kumar, the competition involves ten distinct teams organized from various academic departments.

The league structure includes both undergraduate and postgraduate participants, aiming to integrate competitive sports into the academic environment. During the opening ceremony, Mallaiah noted that consistent athletic engagement builds physical health, mental resilience, and leadership skills.
