Double Fatality at Noida High-Rise After Sanitation Worker and Guard Perish in Septic Tank
A routine maintenance task turned fatal at Eldeco Society in Noida’s Sector 150. A sanitation worker succumbed to toxic fumes in a sewage tank, followed by a security guard who attempted a rescue.
Tragedy at Eldeco Society
A maintenance operation at a residential complex in Noida ended in disaster on Tuesday when two men lost their lives inside a sewage collection pit. The incident occurred within the premises of Eldeco Society, located in Sector 150. Local law enforcement from the Knowledge Park police station responded to the scene following reports of two unresponsive individuals found within the utility infrastructure.
Identities of the Victims
Authorities have officially identified the deceased as:
- Shashikant Sharma: A sanitation worker who initially entered the tank to perform cleaning or maintenance duties.
- Akash: A security guard stationed at the complex who entered the chamber in a desperate attempt to rescue Sharma.
Preliminary reports suggest that Sharma became overwhelmed by concentrated hazardous gases trapped within the enclosed space. While attempting to pull Sharma to safety, Akash also succumbed to the lack of oxygen and toxic atmosphere. Police are currently investigating whether mandatory safety protocols and protective gear were utilized during the operation at the Sector 150 site.
