The Delhi police have constituted a special task force (STF) within the Crime Branch to investigate paper leaks and other examination-related offences under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, a senior officer said on Friday. According to the officer, the STF will be headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Crime Branch.

It will investigate offences related to public examinations conducted by various bodies, including the Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission and the National Testing Agency.

The STF will also investigate offences related to recruitment examinations conducted by ministries and departments of the Central government, as well as their attached and subordinate offices, the officer said.

“The task force will investigate offences involving any other authority notified by the Central government from time to time. Besides investigating cases, the STF will coordinate with prosecuting agencies to ensure expeditious prosecution and facilitate the day-to-day conduct of trials in such cases,” the officer added.
