Cyber safety takes centre stage at ‘Coffee with a Cop’ session in Hyderabad

Young professionals were encouraged to stay vigilant against evolving cyber threats and adopt responsible digital practices at the sixth edition of the “Coffee with a Cop” series organised by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) in collaboration with the Cyberabad police and Telangana Rising at the Wipro campus in Gopanpally on Thursday.

The session, themed “Connected, Not Consumed: Navigating the Digital Age”, featured Sai Sri, SP (Cybercrime and Operations), Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), who spoke on the growing risks posed by online financial frauds, phishing attacks, QR code scams, fake investment schemes, social engineering, deepfakes, OTP frauds and digital privacy.

Interacting with participants, the officer urged young professionals to remain alert online, verify information before placing trust in it and practise good cyber hygiene. She emphasised that every digital action carries responsibility, reiterating the message: “Every choice. Every click. Every consequence.”

The session also featured an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which participants sought guidance on protecting themselves from cyber fraud, securing personal information, identifying emerging digital threats and responding effectively if they become victims of cybercrime.

Sai Sri also reflected on balancing her responsibilities as a senior police officer and a mother, stressing the importance of digital awareness among young people and the role of parents, educators and communities in fostering responsible online behaviour.
