Coimbatore Teenager Drowns During Outing With Friends Near Sulur
A 15-year-old student lost his life on Sunday after drowning in an open well at Appanaickenpatti. The victim, the son of a police sub-inspector, failed to resurface while bathing with two companions.
Fatal Swimming Accident at Appanaickenpatti
Tragedy struck a local family on Sunday when 15-year-old S. Vishakan drowned while swimming in an open well. The teenager, a Class X student at a private school in Palladam, Tiruppur, had left his home at approximately 2:15 p.m. under the impression he was visiting a friend's house in Kalangal.
Authorities report that Vishakan was accompanied by two friends, Kamalesh and Vishwa, at the time of the incident. The group had traveled to a well located in the Appanaickenpatti area to bathe. During the activity, the boy disappeared beneath the surface and failed to reappear, prompting his peers to alert his family.
Emergency Recovery Operations
Following the notification, the boy's father, Senthil Prabhu, reached the scene and contacted the Fire and Rescue Services. Search teams managed to locate and retrieve the body from the water. The victim was the son of Sudha, a Sub-Inspector serving with the Singanallur police station's investigation wing in Coimbatore.
Medical professionals transported the remains to the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital in Coimbatore to conduct a post-mortem examination. The current status of the legal proceedings includes:
- Registration of a case by the Sulur police under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
- Formal complaint filed by the victim's mother to initiate the process.
- Ongoing investigation into the specific circumstances surrounding the drowning.
