Centre Approves 3rd, 4th Rail Lines On Key Karnataka-Andhra Route
The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of third and fourth railway lines on a strategic route connecting Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. This multitracking project aims to enhance rail capacity and reduce congestion across three key districts.
The Indian government has sanctioned a multitracking project to expand the rail network by approximately 46 kilometers. This development focuses on building additional tracks to streamline transport between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, addressing the growing demand for passenger and freight services in the region.
Expected to be completed by the 2028-29 financial year, the project will cover infrastructure upgrades across three districts. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve logistical efficiency and provide smoother connectivity for industrial and agricultural hubs located along the route.
Officials state that the expansion will significantly increase the existing network capacity of Indian Railways. The enhancement is projected to minimize delays and support the long-term economic growth of both states by facilitating faster transit times for high-traffic corridors.
