"Can't Let This Go On Like This": Supreme Court To Centre On NEET Paper Leak Row
The Supreme Court of India told the Centre it plans to monitor the NEET paper leak investigation very closely to ensure accountability. A bench emphasized that the integrity of the examination process must be maintained following widespread concerns from students.
A Supreme Court bench comprising Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe addressed the ongoing controversy regarding alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination. The court expressed serious concern over the nature of the paper leak allegations and stated that such a situation cannot be allowed to persist.
During the hearing, the bench informed the Central Government that it would be monitoring the developments of the case very closely. The justices noted the importance of protecting the interests of the millions of students who appeared for the national entrance test.
The Centre had previously acknowledged some discrepancies while maintaining that a complete cancellation of the exam was not necessary. The court's remarks indicate a heightened level of judicial oversight as various petitions seeking a re-test continue to be processed.
