Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday (July 24, 2026) claimed that the BJP was sending its people to the ongoing students’ protest in the national capital in a bid to discredit it, but these party workers were getting upset when they were being called “BJP-ites” there as they were ashamed of their party’s misdeeds.

Mr. Yadav’s comments came tagging a post on X, which showed an argument between two people at the protest venue over being called a “BJP-ite” or BJP supporter.

‘BJP flags removed’

He said that in the backdrop of the students protests in Delhi, BJP functionaries and supporters have brought down party flags from their homes, buildings, shops, establishments, and vehicles and next “maybe the BJP will go from their hearts and minds too”.

The SP supremo, who has been at the forefront of the INDIA bloc seeking the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak issue, which has sparked the students’ movement, said that for BJP supporters, the “so-called” ‘Amrit Kaal’ has turned into a ‘Vish Kaal’ of publicly swallowing “poison-laced sips of humiliation” and listed several reasons for this.

The BJP supporters were “utterly ashamed” of the party’s misdeeds which included betrayal of Lord Ram in Ayodhya through the theft of offerings, the ruthless assaults even on little girls in Delhi, violent attacks on youth across the entire country, the threat in Mumbai to frame protesters in false drug cases and the utterly reprehensible mistreatment and scorn heaped by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on the grieving mother of a child killed in the Lucknow fire tragedy last month.

“Now, even the BJP’s paid and unpaid so-called supporters are of no use whatsoever. In fact, now they only step out of their homes when absolutely forced to, out of sheer necessity, seeing the public outrage. Their WhatsApp groups have gone cold too.”

‘BJP’s true face’

“The way the BJP has dismantled democracy, corrupted government departments and agencies, fuelled inflation through commission-taking and looting, rigged education and exams on a massive scale, turned recruitment-jobs-employment into a factory for producing labourers only for a handful of their billionaire BJP-supporting cronies, the party’s true face has now come into view even for their own supporters,” he said.
