Bengaluru Electrician Targeted in Evening Robbery Near Doddanekkundi Underpass

Incident Details and Victim Profile
A 23-year-old electrician, identified as Deepak Kumar, fell victim to an organized robbery while commuting home on July 25. The attack took place near the Doddanekkundi railway underpass in the eastern sector of Bengaluru. Kumar, who maintains electrical systems at Bagmane Tech Park, was cycling home at approximately 7:10 p.m. when he was intercepted by a squad of four to five unidentified individuals.
The Multi-Stage Theft
The assailants used force to seize the victim's bicycle and 2,500 rupees in physical cash. In a modern twist to traditional street crime, the perpetrators also accessed Kumar’s mobile device. They utilized a UPI payment gateway to transfer 200 rupees from his bank account before escaping the scene on foot.
Police Response and Investigative Measures
Following the encounter, Kumar contacted the 112 Emergency Response Support System helpline to report the crime. He subsequently visited the HAL Police Station to provide a formal statement. Official records indicate the following investigative steps are underway:
- Registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the unknown suspects.
- Detailed analysis of regional CCTV footage from the vicinity of the railway underpass.
