Andhra Pradesh Greenlights ₹1,000 Crore Water Grid for Madanapalle Constituency
District officials have approved a massive infrastructure project to secure permanent potable water access for Madanapalle and its surrounding rural mandals. The initiative utilizes the Jal Jeevan Mission framework to overhaul the region's existing supply limitations.
Strategic Overhaul of Regional Water Supply
In a move to eliminate long-standing water scarcity in the Madanapalle Assembly constituency, authorities have sanctioned Phase-II of a comprehensive water grid project. Managed under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the initiative carries an estimated price tag of ₹1,000 crore. District Collector Nishant Kumar confirmed the development on Monday, detailing a strategy to modernize supply lines for both urban residents and rural populations.
Integrated Infrastructure and Timeline
The project focuses on delivering safe, consistent drinking water across several key areas, including:
- Madanapalle town
- Nimmanapalle mandal
- Ramasamudram mandal
- Rural Madanapalle regions
Construction for Phase-I is currently underway, involving the installation of a pipeline stretching from the Gandikota reservoir to Mavillavaripalle in Gurramkonda mandal. This initial phase includes the establishment of a dedicated water treatment plant at Mavillavaripalle, which will serve as the primary source for potable water distribution.
Deployment and Completion Goals
Administrative preparations for Phase-II are advancing rapidly. According to Collector Nishant Kumar, the government intends to invite tenders for this segment in the immediate future. The project management team has established a strict 18-month timeline to finalize all infrastructure once the contractual agreements are in place. This timeline reflects an effort to provide a lasting fix for the district's historical water supply challenges.
