20 e-buses flagged off to connect Vizag and Bhogapuram airport

Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy on Friday inaugurated 20 PM e-buses, that would provide connectivity from Visakhapatnam to the upcoming Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram on Friday, marking a major step towards strengthening eco-friendly public transportation in Andhra Pradesh. The buses were flagged off from the Visakha Steel City RTC depot in Gajuwaka, in the presence of AP TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao and APSRTC officials.

Following the launch, the Minister along with Mr. Palla Srinivasa Rao and RTC officials travelled in one of the newly inducted PM e-buses to experience the services.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ramprasad said that the e-buses have been introduced under the Union Government’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme. The State will receive a total of 1,050 electric buses. Of these, 100 e-buses have been allocated to Visakhapatnam, with 20 e-buses in the first batch earmarked exclusively to provide connectivity to the Bhogapuram International Airport.

Designed with modern passenger amenities, the 12-metre-long e-buses have air suspension for a smooth ride, automatic doors, seating capacity for 35 passengers and wheelchair lifts to facilitate travel for persons with disabilities. The e-buses are expected to offer safe, comfortable, faster and pollution-free transportation between Visakhapatnam city and the Bhogapuram International Airport, he said.
