Vietnam arrests speedboat captain after deadly capsize

A Vietnamese speedboat captain has been taken into custody following a fatal capsizing incident on July 11, 2026. The vessel was navigating the waters off May Rut Ngoai islet when it encountered rough seas and overturned, according to reports from state media.
The boat was carrying a total of 36 individuals at the time of the accident, including 32 Indian tourists, three Vietnamese crew members, and one tour guide. Emergency services were deployed to the scene to conduct search and recovery operations shortly after the distress signal was raised.
