Suvendu Adhikari backs curbs on Kolkata airport mosque entry, cites security concerns

West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has called for tighter regulations regarding entry to the mosque situated inside the Kolkata airport. He argued that allowing unrestricted access to outsiders poses a significant risk to the sensitive installation.

Addressing the strategic location of the airport, Adhikari noted that its proximity to both China and Bangladesh makes it a critical security zone. He stated that maintaining open gates for non-passengers is unsustainable under current geopolitical conditions.

The statements come amid ongoing discussions regarding security perimeters at major transportation hubs. Adhikari urged authorities to prioritize national security over convenience by limiting mosque access to airport staff and travelers only.
