Kerala observes State mourning following demise of Qatar’s former ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani
The Kerala state government has announced a period of official state mourning following the passing of Qatar’s former ruler, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Authorities have ordered that all official entertainment and celebratory functions be suspended during this time.

In a formal government order issued this week, the State of Kerala declared a period of mourning to pay respects to the late former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. This move reflects the long-standing socio-economic ties between the southern Indian state and the Gulf nation.
Per the government directive, there shall be no official entertainment or celebratory state functions conducted during the designated mourning period. Government buildings will also fly the national flag at half-mast as a sign of respect for the departed leader.
