"Sheikh Hasina Will Have To Go To Jail": Bangladesh Minister On Exiled Ex-PM
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam stated that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina must face imprisonment upon her return or surrender. The announcement comes as the interim government addresses the legal status of the exiled leader currently residing in India.

Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shama Obaed Islam, has declared that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will face immediate detention regardless of where she surrenders. The minister emphasized that legal protocols will be strictly followed for the exiled leader.
Hasina fled to India in August following mass protests that led to the collapse of her administration. The new interim government has since initiated several investigations into the conduct of the former regime during the period of civil unrest.
Officials indicated that the former leader's surrender, whether facilitated through diplomatic channels in India or upon her physical entry into Bangladesh, will result in her being placed in custody first. Source: Shama Obaed Islam via Public Statement.
