Rift in AMMA: No end to impasse in Kerala film body as rival camps hold firm

The Ernakulam Munsiff court has issued a stay order on the functioning of the AMMA ad-hoc committee, effectively halting the daily administrative operations of the Malayalam film body. This legal intervention follows significant internal friction triggered by the mass resignation of the previous executive committee earlier this year.

Reports indicate that two distinct camps have emerged within the association, with one group pushing for immediate democratic elections while the other advocates for a transitional leadership model. This rift has prevented the body from reaching a consensus on how to navigate the current governance crisis.

As the impasse continues, member concerns regarding welfare activities and industry representation have grown. The lack of a functioning executive body has stalled critical decision-making processes, leaving the career interests of several hundred actors in a state of uncertainty.
