Prospects of kharif cultivation turns bleak in Telangana with monsoon failure
Agricultural prospects for the kharif season in Telangana have deteriorated significantly due to a widespread failure of the monsoon. Over 63 percent of mandals across 32 rural districts have reported deficient to large deficient rainfall levels.

Farmers across Telangana are facing a critical situation as the southwest monsoon remains largely inactive, resulting in a substantial rainfall deficit during the core kharif sowing period. Data indicates that a majority of the state's rural mandals are currently struggling with inadequate moisture levels necessary for crop sustenance.
The water storage levels in major and medium reservoirs across the state have remained at gloomy levels, offering little relief for irrigation needs. This lack of replenishment follows a period of inconsistent climatic patterns that have delayed traditional sowing schedules for essential food crops.
Agricultural experts express concern that if the dry spell continues through the coming weeks, the overall acreage and yield for the season could be severely impacted. The government is currently monitoring the situation as rural districts report increasing water stress in the fields.
