A bar in Vembayam, on the outskirts of the State capital, witnessed dramatic scenes on Sunday night after a man allegedly doused a group of guests with petrol and set them on fire. Four men, including the alleged attacker, sustained burn injuries in the incident. The identities of the attacker and the injured, who are all admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital here, are yet to be ascertained.

According to the bar staff, the man initially entered the executive lounge of the bar, where a group of people was having drinks. He then stepped outside and returned with a bottle of petrol, and poured it over the group and set them ablaze. The bar's executive lounge sustained major damages in the fire. Fire and Rescue personnel from the nearby stations rushed to the spot and put out the fire, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.
