IPS officer trainees visit Visakhapatnam Port

A contingent of 22 IPS officer trainees, including two foreign officers, from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, visited the Visakhapatnam Port Authority(VPA) on Monday as part of their maritime security module training.

VPA Chairperson J. S. Bindra welcomed the delegation and gave a presentation on the port’s infrastructure, cargo handling capabilities and its contribution to the country’s economic growth.

Senior port officials briefed the trainee officers on key operational initiatives, including mechanisation, solar power generation, the use of treated water from sewage treatment plants for industrial purposes, and newly developed facilities such as the International Cruise Terminal and the Truck Parking Terminal.

The delegation also interacted with port officials on coastal security, emerging maritime threats and evolving logistics frameworks. VPA Deputy Chairperson Roshni Aparanji Korati was present.
