More than three lakh people are expected to attend the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1, BJP Rajya Sabha member P.V.N. Madhav said on Thursday.
Addressing the media after a tour of the airport at Bhogapuram, Mr. Madhav said the State government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, is making elaborate arrangements to enable people from all parts of Andhra Pradesh to witness the historic occasion and visit the newly constructed airport.
He added that around 10,000 buses would be arranged to transport people to the venue, while 18 committees comprising leaders and representatives of the TDP, BJP and Jana Sena Party have already been constituted to oversee various aspects of the event and ensure its smooth conduct.
He noted that several iconic products and symbols of the region, including Etikoppaka toys, Ponduru Khadi, Palasa cashew, Araku coffee and other unique cultural elements, have been incorporated into the airport's design and decor, providing visitors from across the world with a glimpse of Uttarandhra's identity.
He said the airport and its surroundings would be adorned with the Tricolour in view of the inauguration and the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in August. Residents would also be encouraged to hoist the national flag at their homes as part of the celebrations.
