Nasa's Anil Menon, two Russians blast off for 8-month International Space Station mission

A Soyuz spacecraft carrying American astronaut Anil Menon and two Russian colleagues launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Wednesday. The mission marks a significant duration for the trio, who are scheduled to remain in orbit for approximately eight months to oversee critical station maintenance and scientific operations.

During his tenure on the International Space Station, Mr. Menon will conduct specialized scientific research and technology demonstrations. These efforts are part of a broader NASA initiative aimed at advancing human space exploration capabilities while providing tangible benefits for life on Earth.

The international crew is expected to dock with the station following a short transit period. Once aboard, they will integrate with the existing crew to manage a variety of experiments ranging from biological studies to physics in microgravity environments. Source: NASA
