Narottam Mishra denied BJP ticket: Supporters clash with cops in MP's Datia, NH-44 blocked for 12 hours

Over 3,000 supporters of former Madhya Pradesh minister Narottam Mishra staged a massive demonstration on NH-44, cutting off a vital transportation artery for nearly half a day. The protest was triggered by the political decision to exclude Mishra from the Bhartiya Janata Party's candidate list for the upcoming electoral contest.

The situation turned violent when security forces attempted to disperse the crowd, leading to a clash between the agitators and the police. The Datia Superintendent of Police and several other officers sustained injuries during the efforts to clear the highway and restore the flow of traffic.

Authorities eventually regained control of the area by clearing the blockade and arresting multiple individuals involved in the unrest. Normalcy was restored on NH-44 after the 12-hour disruption, though security remains heightened in the region. Source: Officials via news reports.
