Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday, claiming that the state government's approach to the Polavaram project is compromising its original vision. She argued that the project was initially designed to provide extensive irrigation, drinking water, and hydropower benefits to the entire state.

Sharmila specifically pointed out that recent decisions and delays are effectively reducing the multi-purpose project to a simple barrage. She expressed concern that this move would deprive several districts of the necessary water resources promised during the project's inception and emphasized that the state should hold the central government accountable for full funding.

The Congress leader also questioned the transparency regarding the height of the dam and the rehabilitation packages for displaced families. She called for the immediate completion of the project as per the original specifications set during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Source: News Reports
