The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) moved to summon the Iranian deputy envoy to express grave concern over recent maritime hostilities. The diplomatic action follows an attack on a ship that led to the death of an Indian national, raising significant security concerns for Indian seafarers operating in international waters.

India officially condemned the attacks on the commercial vessels MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa. These incidents directly impacted a total of 30 Indian seafarers who were serving onboard the targeted vessels during the time of the strikes in the Red Sea region.

In its official communication, the MEA reiterated its firm call for an immediate cessation of violence across the region. The ministry emphasized the necessity of returning to dialogue and diplomacy to ensure maritime safety and restore long-term stability to West Asia.
